Arizona State Science and Engineering Fair

Avnet continued its long-time sponsorship of the Arizona State Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF). The fair is administered by the Arizona Science Center. AzSEF brings together first-place winners from local K-12 schools and regional science fairs across the state of Arizona to compete for prizes, scholarships, and a chance to compete at the International Fair.

Avnet has been a partner with HandsOn Greater Phoenix for more than 20 years. Employees volunteer at the nonprofit’s annual serve-a-thon focusing on beautification projects at local elementary schools. It is one of the many volunteer projects Avnet employees look forward to every year.

When disaster strikes and throughout the year, Avnet partners with the American Red Cross, and its global affiliates, by providing a microsite portal where employees can donate funds toward specific disaster relief efforts. Avnet matches employee donations made via this portal for specific incidents.

Awards

Avnet awarded EcoVadis Silver medal in recognition of sustainability efforts

In October 2022, Avnet was awarded a silver medal from EcoVadis in recognition of its sustainability management. EcoVadis evaluates the sustainability management systems quality of more than 90,000 companies in over 200 purchasing categories. Silver medal status is awarded to companies scoring in the top 25% at the time of assessment.

Avnet CEO Phil Gallagher Awarded AccountabilIT Lifetime Achievement Award

The Arizona Technology Council, in conjunction with the Arizona Commerce Authority, recently honored Phil Gallagher with the AccountabillT Lifetime Achievement Award at the Governor’s Celebration of Innovation (GCOI) Awards held on Oct. 13, 2021. This award, sponsored by AccountabillT, an IT solutions and services company, honors an individual or individuals who have greatly impacted the technology industry in the State of Arizona.

Avnet Chief Legal Officer wins Arizona Corporate Counsel Award

The Association of Corporate Counsel, in conjunction with the State Bar of Arizona, recently awarded Michael McCoy with Counsel of the Year in the public company category with more than 4,000 employees. Finalists for the Arizona Corporate Counsel Awards represent the finest legal expertise across all industries in the private, public and nonprofit sectors. The award ceremony was held on March 24, 2022 and co-hosted by AZ Big Media.

Avnet named to CIO’s US 100 Award List

Avnet has been named as a 2022 US CIO 100 winner by CIO magazine. The CIO US Award recognizes 100 organizations for their achievements in technology innovation. The award is a mark of ingenuity excellence and celebrates IT organizations for driving digital business growth through technology innovation. The winning companies demonstrate what it means to deliver business value through the innovative use of technology, creating competitive advantage in their organizations, improving business processes, enabling growth and improving relationships with customers.

Avnet Named to FORTUNE’s World’s Most Admired Companies List

Avnet, Inc. was recently named to FORTUNE’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” list.

“We are pleased to be included on the FORTUNE Most Admired Companies list among many other esteemed companies,” said Avnet CEO Phil Gallagher. “Our company has been around for more than 100 years and continues to help its customers and suppliers realize the transformative possibilities of technology. But, it’s truly the efforts of Avnet employees exemplifying our core values that brings us this honor.”

Avnet Taiwan Honored as One of the “Best Companies to Work For” 2022

For the fourth year, Avnet Taiwan has been named one of the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2022” by the region’s leading trade publication for HR professionals, HR Asia. In the same annual awards program, Avnet Taiwan earned an additional “WeCare” award for the second consecutive year. 

The HR Asia Awards recognize companies that demonstrate high levels of employee engagement and foster excellent workplace cultures. The results are based on a rigorous evaluation process that includes extensive, confidential employee surveys. This year, of the 330 organizations nominated, only 97 met the criteria for the “Best Companies to Work for” award. Of those, only 14 were honored with the additional “WeCare” award.

In the confidential employee survey, Avnet Taiwan scored significantly higher than average in the sections headed CORE, SELF and GROUP, which collectively aim to determine the empathy and care extended to employees by their employer. These high scores, based on the feedback of the 50 Avnet employees polled, secured the “WeCare” award and cemented the company’s reputation as a trustworthy and compassionate employer.

Avnet’s Centennial Celebration Wins IABC Gold Quill Award for Communication Excellence

Avnet’s Corporate Marketing team has been awarded and recognized with a prestigious 2022 Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

The Marketing team won for their work on the year-long 100th Anniversary Celebration in the 'Special and Experimental Events’ category. Avnet’s 100th Anniversary campaign ran from January through December 2021 and celebrated themes of transforming technology, making a difference, partnership value and looking to the future.

Avnet’s anniversary took place during a global pandemic, requiring an extraordinary amount of creativity to layout an experience in a year when almost all events and experiences were virtual. The campaign also brought to life Centennial Central which became the heart of the celebration and now an online archive of the experience that will live on as a digital memory of the year. The 100th anniversary campaign culminated with a live, outdoor, in-person events at multiple locations across the globe with the final celebration taking place at company headquarters in Arizona, hosted by CEO Phil Gallagher.

The IABC Gold Quill Awards recognize business communication excellence globally and are acknowledged as one of the most prestigious awards programs in the communications industry.

Avnet Internal Communications Team Wins Second Consecutive IABC Gold Quill Award

Avnet's Internal Communications team has been honored with prestigious 2022 Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

The global Internal Communications team worked closely with the company’s Return to Office Task Force in 2020 to compile, document and present changes Avnet employees could expect when they returned to the workplace as the global pandemic subsided. The Guide is available to employees as an online interactive intranet site, a printable PDF version and a supplemental video.

The Guide is still updated regularly and remains a valuable resource as the company’s remote workers transition back to the office. This is the second consecutive year the Internal Communications team has been recognized with a Gold Quill Award after being honored in 2021 for their COVID-19 communications programs.

Avnet’s Mat Ransom Named a Supply & Demand Chain Executive 2022 “Pros to Know”

Avnet’s Mathew Ransom, director, Supply Chain Programs and Services, EMEA has been named a 2022 Pro to Know by Supply & Demand Chain Executive magazine. The annual Pros to Know listing recognizes outstanding executives whose accomplishments offer a roadmap for other leaders looking to leverage supply chain for competitive advantage.

Throughout his 15-year career with Avnet, Ransom has served in a variety of roles including global sales, service, supply chain, purchasing and operations and has directly managed key strategic customer and supplier supply chain engagements. Ransom currently leads a specialized supply chain operations team of supply chain architects and program managers who are responsible for architecting and delivering robust supply chain programs to solve some of the most complex challenges facing Avnet’s customers.

CRN Names Avnet's Nicole Enright a 2022 Women of the Channel

CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company, has named Nicole Enright, president, Avnet Integrated, to its Women of the Channel list for 2022. This esteemed list honors the incredible accomplishments of female leaders from across the IT channel, including vendors, distributors, and solution providers - whose vision, expertise, and contributions make an impact on the industry every day.

By bringing innovative concepts, strategic business planning, and comprehensive channel initiatives to life, these extraordinary women support partners and customers with exceptional leadership. CRN celebrates these women, who are so deserving of recognition, for their constant dedication to channel excellence.

Having taken the helm of Avnet Integrated in April 2021, Enright launched the Direct Connect program, which enables OEMs to immediately scale solution delivery to their channel while realizing significant capital efficiencies.  Under her leadership, this program has had a significant impact on Avnet’s OEM customers, enabling them to focus on growth by leaning in on rich IP development and investing in their selling motion while Avnet builds, financially executes, and deploys the solutions. Enright’s guidance has allowed the global program to expand to more customers and OEMs, thus expanding Avnet’s access to the channel partners.

Avnet India crowned Best Workplace three years in a row

For the third consecutive year, Avnet India has obtained “Best Workplaces in Electronics” certification by the prestigious Great Place to Work® Institute. It remains the only electronics distributor in India to receive the honor.

The world’s largest workplace recognition study, the Great Place to Work® evaluation process measures companies’ abilities to inspire trust, instill pride, promote camaraderie and facilitate an overall positive experience for its employees. It involves a confidential employee survey and an in-depth audit of organizations’ people practices, covering the entire employee life-cycle.

“At Avnet, we are committed to push the boundaries of extensive design, product, marketing and supply chain expertise for customers and suppliers at every stage of the product lifecycle. Therefore, we recognize the significance of having a robust talent management strategy and competency-based approach to attract, develop and engage talent in a constantly evolving business environment. We are extremely proud of the work we do and I attribute it to our happy, engaged and motivated colleagues," said James Tan, Senior Vice President, Human Resource Asia Pacific and Japan.

Over the last five years, Avnet India has also received multiple accolades ranging from best employee health and well-being to leading employee engagement practices from other renowned global consultancy firms such as HR Excellence and Great Manager Institute. Last year, Willis Langford has recently been named one of “50 Best HR Leaders in 2021 by White Page International.

Avnet Asia (Singapore) named as one of the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia”

Avnet Asia (Singapore) was among 27 of 206 participating Singaporean companies to be named the “Best Companies to Work for in Asia” in 2021 by HR Asia, the region’s most authoritative publication for senior human resource professionals.

Using its proprietary Total Engagement Assessment Model (TEAM) survey, HR Asia surveyed Avnet employees to gain insight on our company’s employment culture. A majority of the employees surveyed indicated they feel energized at work and are mostly happy working at Avnet. They would also recommend Avnet to others as a great place to work. In general, Avnet’s scores across all categories within the TEAM survey ranked higher than industry averages.

Avnet Honored with 2021 Volunteerism Award

The Phoenix Business Journal recently awarded Avnet and its Avnet Cares program the Corporate Philanthropy 2021 Volunteerism Award for mid-sized companies. In the award article, Avnet was noted for providing employees paid time off to volunteer, matching employee volunteer hours with a donation to the nonprofit they are volunteering with and providing matching gifts for drives and fundraisers led by employees.

In addition, Avnet’s 100 Acts of Giving was called out. This is a special program celebrating employees’ volunteer efforts during its 100th anniversary year. As part of this campaign, Avnet will donate $1,000 (USD) to 100 eligible nonprofits/NGOs globally for a total of $100,000. These 100 nonprofits are identified from volunteer stories that Avnet employees share describing their efforts.

Avnet China: Best Wellness Employer Award for 2021

For the second time, Avnet China was presented with the “Best Wellness Employer in 2021” award by AIA China, HRoot and Peking University. During an annual award ceremony recently held at the Peace Hotel Shanghai, Avnet China was recognized for industry best practices and significant achievements in promoting workplace wellness.

As part of the rigorous selection process, more than 220 Avnet China employees participated in the anonymous survey and provided feedback on the company’s performance in promoting employee health and wellness. Avnet’s resulting scores ranked higher than both China’s industry average and the overall average of other companies being considered.

Avnet China: Most Suitable Place to Work for 2021

The Pudong (Shanghai) government and Korn Ferry, a renowned global organizational consulting firm, selected Avnet China as a “Most Suitable Place to Work for 2021.” The organizer’s comprehensive, multifaceted selection process took approximately five months to complete. Winners were selected by an esteemed judging panel, comprised of representatives from Korn Ferry, Roland Berger, China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Emlyon Business School and the Pudong government. Respected HR consultant and expert Dave Ulrich served as the panel’s chairman

Winning out over 116 other international and domestic companies in a wide range of industries, Avnet earned its leading title based on the following three key parameters:

  1. Our success in creating a good working environment and positive organizational atmosphere — and effectively instilling hope and communicating our vision to employees
  2. Results from the Korn Ferry International employee performance survey — which obtained real feedback from current employees on a wide range of topics
  3. Our ability to well position Avnet as an employer of choice, and to attract and recruit excellent workplace talent
